BANFF LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME

To succeed as a leader, you need a strong personal foundation. Your starting point must be solid, allowing you to leverage your strengths and develop areas for growth. You should be able to make the right decisions quickly and achieve optimal results through your team. To reach your goals as a leader, you must be clear about your vision, mission, and values—and able to unleash your full energy when it matters most. Our Banff Leadership Programme (BLP) was developed in 2008 and has been continuously refined. Below, you can read more about our BLP. HOW DO WE DO IT?

By using a combination of theory, discussions, reflections, and practical exercises, we push you out of your comfort zone and spark real learning. The program is structured around three core elements, Module 1: Personal Leadership: The three core elements are: Personal Leadership, The Excellent Team, and understanding Strategy (see the figure below). In our view, these three modules are ideal – but the content and length of the modules can, of course, vary depending on your and your company’s needs. Module 1: Personal Leadership: This module focuses on how the leader – starting with themselves and the company’s expectations – can best strengthen and adapt their leadership. It’s about standing clearly and authentically with impact, while also taking care of one’s own energy – which must be nourished and preserved throughout the process. This ensures that leadership is sustainable – even in the long run. Module 2: The Excellent Team: In this module, we work on team leadership. How do you motivate and strengthen a team – even when the going gets tough? How do you create results across differences in a constantly changing world – both within your own team and across the organization? We are deeply inspired by our new partner, Dr. Heidi Gardner, whose book SMART Collaboration has paved the way for a research-based understanding of the significant benefits of cross-functional collaboration – in terms of economy, motivation, and innovation. This module also features our outdoor concept, Silo-breaker, which, through practical cross-team collaboration, creates insights, realizations, and tangible results. Module 3: Strategy Understanding: In this module, we link the first two modules with strategy. We focus on how strategies are translated into action and daily operations, based on the learning and competence development that has taken place along the way. The themes depend on the company’s current challenges, and what is common to all is that change management has become a permanent condition, requiring ongoing attention.

THE METHOD

We move you out of your comfort zone and hold the modules in unique, unconventional locations. This could be on an organic olive farm in Mallorca, in the French Alps, or in unfamiliar surroundings in Denmark. By doing this, we kickstart learning processes that heighten your senses. The many sensory impressions, combined with the unique settings, make it easier for you to retain the new knowledge you gain. In the course, we actively use nature as an inspiring classroom, along with recognized theory. For example, we work with Covey’s 7 Habits, Appreciative Inquiry, Full Engagement, LOFT, Katzenbach's Best Practices, and Toyota's Lean Management theory. Throughout the program, there is a continuous thread linking current cases from your own company, ensuring that the learning is always relevant and up to date. In addition, the program includes a 360-degree feedback, the creation of a Jungian Type Index (JTI) profile, and a physical test, all designed to provide the leader(s)/ . Two Men with a Mission

It all began in May. Two men at the consulting firm Banff People set themselves a goal: We want to create the best leadership training for future leaders – and we want to consult the biggest companies for advice. The two men initially worked closely with experienced individuals such as Peter Møller (former HR Director at Novo Nordisk), Nicolai Moltke-Leth (former Special Forces soldier and speaker), Karin Hoeck (former Senior Consultant at Banff People), and the Institute for Futures Studies. Together, they identified some of the key elements that the future-oriented course should include. After a couple of months, Banff People was ready with a brand new course, and the two men invited a number of large companies, representing approximately 90,000 employees, to help test and develop it. 18 HR directors agreed to join the mission. In workshops held in Denmark and abroad, their reflections on content, methods, and design were presented in the form of constructive suggestions and comments. The managers' input was integrated into the course, and then the time had come. The two men had completed their mission – they could launch the Banff Leadership Programme. The optimal leadership training. Over time, our Banff Leadership Programme has continuously updated and fine-tuned to adapt to new tools and the world we live in today.
